Joe Barbieri is a fascinating anomaly. An outsider who outside the industry's track has been able to build a personal path and which has succeeded in the rare result of conveying the genuine appreciation of colleagues, critics and the audience.

He released 5 albums of original songs so far ("In Parole Povere" 2004, "Maison Maravilha" 2009, "Respiro" 2012, "Cosmonauta Da Appartamento" 2015 and "Origami" 2017), as well as a live cd + dvd ("Maison Maravilha Viva" 2010) recorded at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and and two albums dedicated to his heroes in vocal jazz: Chet Baker ("Chet Lives!"2013), and Billie Holiday ("Dear Billie” 2019).

His music (sold in tens of thousands of copies) is released in many countries of the world, and his personal stylistic code - which links the pop to jazz to world music - has led him over the years to collaborate with colleagues in each of these musical genres (from Omara Portuondo to Stefano Bollani, from Stacey Kent to Luz Casal, from Jorge Drexlerto Hamilton De Holanda) and to play on some of the most prestigious stages on the planet.

Joe Barbieri is one the most appreciated Italian authors, and he has often preferred women's voices as interpreters of his songs over the years.

BIG BANG

Anticipating by the single "My Best Enemy", launched last December 20, 2024 on all streaming platforms, Big Bang is the seventh album of Joe Barbieri's songs, released in April 2025.
The sound of the song is a sensual and magnetic funk, which introduces new and bold nuances into the already refined musical universe of Barbieri, who says: "... I can say that while remaining the same as always – linked to songwriting, jazz, world – I feel I am always ready to search. To search. After more than thirty years on the road, my journey has never had a single day the 'benefit' of autopilot and, even if I risk taking the wrong turn, I deeply love to venture into all the territories where I can feel terribly alive. And this songs is the demonstration."

Line Up

VULÌO

Throughout his long career Joe Barbieri has almost always considered the totem of the classical musical tradition of his homeland untouchable. Vulìo is an album, released in 2024 in which Barbieri's classical guitar and voice, accompanied by Oscar Montalbano's manouche strings and Nico Di Battista's DBguitar, reinterpret in their own very personal way some pages of an eternal and extraordinary repertoire that in spite of age never ceases to renew and reveal itself.

sometimes a very special guest is added for shows, the writer Maurizio de Giovanni, who introduces the songs interpreted by Barbieri. Because of its preciousness, this encounter deserved its own name and "Ammore" was born, a project in which the two Artists decided to join their paths in a show of words and music that tells the stories, the unparalleled musicality, the authors and the secret harmony of love songs of the Great Partenopean Tradition.
